On today’s show, Advocates United for Humanity welcomes their new #communitykidswatch program that promotes see something, say something! AU4H ‘Community Kids Watch’ program is a simple act of kindness that anyone can take part in. The ‘Community Kids Watch’ program helps children in the community feel safe and protected knowing their families, friends, and community are attentively watching over them. Each person in their neighborhood, apartment complex, street, or community vows to take a stand to help stop child abuse by “watching, listening and reporting” any suspected abuse towards a child. Many people fear reporting suspected child abuse thinking if they are wrong they will be charged for filing a false report. There is no wrong in doing what you believe is right to protect a child. Making a report in good faith will not get you in any trouble. By reporting the suspected abuse you may save a child's life. Please don’t let another child die by not making the call if you suspect abuse.
WHO CAN BE INVOLVED? Any community resident can be part of the Community Kids Watch Program and help keep an eye out for neighborhood children.
As a Community Kids Watch Ambassador: 1. You vow to protect children, All children. 2. If you see, hear or suspect a child is being abused or neglected it is your moral responsibility to report it. Reports can be filed anonymously with your state’s Child Abuse Hotline. If you are unsure of the process or need that information please contact AU4H at: [email protected] or message us via Facebook message system with a number you may be reached at and we can help guide you through the process. 3. If you file a report, you will be updated as allowed by law. http://au4h.weebly.com/community-kids... Website: https://www.au4h.weebly.com Facebook: www.facebook.com/au4h Instagram: @au4h1 Twitter: @au4hradio YouTube: AU4HRadio Gmail: [email protected] Last evening I was talking with an old friend. She asked me how long it had been since I actually sat down and wrote anything. I honestly couldn’t give her an answer. It has been at least 4 years (2016) prior to my accident. That night I went to bed early, but couldn’t sleep because I could feel yet another migraine coming on. For those of you unaware of what a migraine is you are lucky. Very lucky. A migraine is horrible. A migraine affects every aspect of your life. I get debilitating migraines 15+ days a month. Although I have a great doctor and preventive plan it still takes a toll on my body, mood, activity level and overall quality of life. I lose the ability to see, think or function. To know what I want to do, but physically can’t, or I know what I want to say but can’t find the words. This takes a toll on your mental health, as well. The slightest movement, smell, etc can trigger it. I literally feel like my head could explode. Light increases the pain, as well as movement. Oh and did I forget how it upsets my stomach and I vomit for days on end. The pain in my head is unbearable. It feels like shavings of glass embedded into my head. That’s just a few of the lovely side effects from a migraine. Sarcasm intended! This goes on for hours, days and sometimes weeks. My longest migraine was 22 days!! When people see you see smiling on the outside they think you are okay. That there is nothing wrong with you, but it in no way shows you how I feel on the inside. What upsets me the most is people who say take an aspirin. You have no freaking idea how we migraine sufferers feel. Ugh! If it was only that easy by taking an aspirin to avoid days and weeks of pain, trust me I would have done it by now. Probably over half the migraine sufferers of the world would have. Right? but that is not the case. If they could just walk in my shoes for one day. They would soon change their minds. I promise. Although, I cannot predict how I will feel day to day but I will continue to set bite-size goals and live in the moment while living with chronic illness/pain. Thanks to everyone who has reached out to me and shared your migraine horror stories or showed me support. I am thankful for your kindness. God bless each of you!
